Fucking hell. MUCH more adventurous than the last albums musically. The instrumentals really stand out. Xasthur have always had an original sound, but Scott drove it even further this time. Unusual to the core, always intriguing to listen to. One of the best PP releases for me this year, and I'm insanely glad they put his records out on their label.

Genre defining album. THIS is what avantgarde is. Not strictly in it's form, but in its transgression of expectations and pretense. This one album is a whole genre encapsulated. How many people walked into this expecting a second wave black metal album and had their expectations demolished gloriously? The album has a playful roguishness to it, where you pay for admission to a circus whose clowns entertain themselves at your expense, and you love every minute of it.

I’ve owned the Imperfect disc for a bit now, but had slept on the rest of the material, with the exception of Disquiet, until now. Much different than my normal dissonant, occult sound fare, but everything Unrequited creates is bursting at the seams with power and emotion. Respect and support.
